If a police officer receives proper training about field sobriety tests, they will be told the proper standards and procedures according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”). The reality is that officers have usually made up their minds to arrest when they give the field sobriety test; the tests are simply additional evidence which the suspect inevitably "fails".
